Challenge
BombShell Bakes was looking for a way to differentiate themselves from the other bakeries in their local area. The client wanted something different than pastel colors and cupcake clip art. Instead, they wanted a brand that was both bold and confident and reflected their high-end product line. The brand also needed to be flexible enough to work across many different formats such as business cards, packaging boxes, thank you cards, social media badges and more. All of these items needed to be connected so that when a customer saw them on a shipping box or a corporate workshop flier, they would recognize the same brand.

Goal
Create a complete identity system based around a powerful word mark and a cohesive color story. Goals included creating a primary logo that had personality (the pink scripted "Shell" over the bold black type), creating a secondary mark set (alternative word mark, mascot and BSB badge), creating a color palette that appeared high-end, but not childish, pairing typeface styles that balanced elegance (Lora) with strength (Montserrat) and designing a custom brand pattern to connect packaging and print. Deliverables included applying the new system to actual-world examples of business cards, packaging boxes and mailers.

Result
The new identity system provided BombShell Bakes with an identifiable visual identity. The word mark communicates confidence. The pink script creates warmth without losing its sharpness. The mascot adds personality for use on social media and packaging. The BSB badge provides a compact stamp for smaller application. The custom illustrated pattern that includes rolling pins, whisks and cupcakes connects all elements. This pattern appears on the shipping boxes, the thank you cards and the back side of the business cards.
